Glomerulonephritis with low serum complement

In the work-up of a patient with glomerulonephritis (GN), low serum complement can narrow the differential diagnosis to the following conditions:


1- Systemic lupus erythematosus*
2- Infective endocarditis*
3- Shunt nephritis*
4- Poststreptococcal GN*
5- Mesangiocapillary GN
6- Cryoglobulinemia
7- Primary complement deficiency


* Usually suggested by clinical features
